Maritime Labour Convention (MLC)

The International Labour Organization’s ( ILO) Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006 provides comprehensive rights and protection at work for the world’s quite a million seafarers.  The Convention aims to attain each right work for seafarers and secure economic interests in truthful competition for quality shipowners.   The new labour customary consolidates and updates more than 65 international labour standards associated with the Maritime sector adopted over the last eighty years.
The Convention sets out seafarers’ rights to be aware of conditions of labor on a good vary of subjects, and aims to be globally applicable, simply graspable, promptly updatable and uniformly implemented. It’s been designed to become a world instrument called the “fourth pillar” of the international regulative regime for eminence shipping, complementing the important Conventions of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The decision by the ILO to maneuver forward to form this major new Maritime Labour Convention was the results of a resolve in 2001 by the international seafarers’ and ship owners’  organizations, moreover government supported.  They recognized that the shipping trade is “the world’s 1st genuinely world industry” that “requires an international world regulative response of AN acceptable kind – global standards applicable to the whole industry”.

“Process and policy”, these are two global terms, often used by people who are working in any kind of system. These systems can be an organization or to be precised in the field of shipping or marine, it can be a shipping company, vessel, crewing agency, or any other projects.
